Confession Time

As you may have noticed if you are on my personal Facebook page or you are following us on the blog page, you might have noticed my absence this past week, not just on the blog but on social networking entirely.  I even turned my phone off for several days and retreated within myself.  It was actually a pretty hard week for me, but not for the usual reasons in a woman my age.  I’m 29 years old, for the very first time, and next year I will be turning 30, not 29 again.  I’ve never been one for shorting myself of years because, by the Gods, I have earned every year like a gold star.  It’s not my age that is a problem for me, so my birthday is not a cause for eating chocolate and drink wine while listening to mopey music.  Though the eating chocolate and drinking wine and listening to music thing sounds like something I’ve done before, quite often, just for the joy of it. Our family’s big news

So, as this has started off as one of the least appealing birthdays I’ve had in a while (had to have my Joshwa to work at 6:30 am and the best friend is working ALL day), I think now is the perfect time to tell you about a bright spot.  This past March, my brother married a lovely woman and acquired two step-sons.  The oldest is 16, so I’m not sure how their relationship is developing (what can I say, my brother lives more than 8 hours away, we don’t get to spend a lot of time together), but I can tell you without a doubt that my brother is as crazy about his younger stepson, and the feeling appears to be mutual. Gosh, I’m kinda boring

Well, at least after all the ups and downs of the last year and a half.  Am I complaining?  Nope.  But I’m sure it’s not much fun for my readers.  I do have some news for you guys.  We probably won’t be moving before June at the earliest.  😦  Yeah, we were both shocked and neither of us very thrilled by it. Guh, to be a girl…

Sorry I haven’t been around, guys.  I’ve been doing some writing getting ready for NaNoWriMo which starts November 1st.  I’ve also been moping with girl problems (hence the title).  It gets better, it gets worse, and I just get tired.  It doesn’t help that last paycheck (a week ago last Thursday) we had to spend $300 on breaks when we were expecting more like $100 Continue reading

Insomnia and a facelift

So, I got tired of the way the blog was looking.  I didn’t mind the background color, but I think I was just tired of the frilly girly stuff, and seeing the theme used by others (pregnant cousin – sis-in-law to new-mother cousin; and another friend who just started blogging).  That, and I’ve branded myself.  So what better way to celebrate SCL’s new image (and check out the image next to your address bar/on your tab) than a new theme? Limbo – and I don’t mean the dance

So I’m still waiting to go to the doctor.  I was supposed to call today to set up an appointment.  I still haven’t gotten my period (yes, I am now seven weeks late) and haven’t gotten a positive pregnancy test.  Joshwa is gonna pick up some more of the tests tomorrow – I haven’t taken one in two weeks.  It’s been rough, and I’ve been sick – but whether it’s pregnancy symptoms or just this is how my body is handling sickness now that I eat healthy and no longer smoke. Happy Belated Birthday to Me

Yep, that’s right, folks, yesterday was my 26th birthday!  Apparently I’m at the age where I’m supposed to deny and fight against getting older – and definitely not supposed to admit my age – but I figure when you grow up hearing about how your parents should have died before you were born because they did stupid stuff as kids, it makes you more appreciative of every year.  For me, it’s like winning, lol. Trying not to get excited

So I’ve done pretty well lately not getting my hopes up every month.  Which is a good thing, since I’ve been like clockwork (though last month it took three days of spotting, which meant my period was a full seven days – which cut into my 4th of July plans!).  But I should have started on Friday (33 days).  Granted, I’ve got the rest of today (I’ve had 35 day cycles) before I can officially say I’m late. New page up!

I finally got the new page up “Blogs I Like“!  It’s not completely finished, nor will it be so long as I find blogs that I enjoy.  I know most of my readers are hit and runs, which is fine, but I also know I’ve got at least a few of you guys that read regularly (that or I get way more hit and runs than I realized!) and I want to share with you guys.  I want to thank Catherine Spalding and Nicola Baird who responded to my call for blogs.  I am still accepting blogs! Why can’t real life be more like Bollywood?!

I decided a couple of years ago that I wish Hollywood would go back to the good-ole-days or be more like Bollywood.  You know, music and dancing for no good reason.  My life used to be like that – full of music and movement.  I’ve been working to get my life back to that caliber of awesome.  One step towards that? Continue reading
